Happy Sunday, Scribblers!
Welcome to another writing prompt - I hope this finds you exceedingly well.
We’re just going to jump right into today’s prompt, I’ve been writing All of the Words this week and I’m starting to feel a bit frayed around the edges. It’s the perfect time for a palate-cleansing scribble…
Writing tip: If you’re feeling stuck/overwhelmed/bogged down in your current writing project, taking a step away and trying something completely different can often jostle the creative juices loose. And we all want loose creative juice! When we get stuck we tend to get too Thinky - letting yourself play with no expectations or outcomes can be just the thing to get things flowing again.
So, let’s play!
The invitation first….of course:
Even if you don’t normally identify as a writer, I invite you to have a noodle in a notebook or on a scrap of paper…just to see what might happen.
Write by hand, if you’re able.
Give yourself a time limit.
No edits.
No second thoughts.
Let your pen take a walk across the page.
Ready?
Let’s begin.
Today I have an autumnal group of three things for you.
a purple woolen cardigan (with or without pockets)
a murder of crows
an abandoned building, marked for demolition.
Feel free to use them all, just one, or none at all. Use them together or write three separate pieces. Let it be the start of a scene, a conversation, a sonnet. Don’t think, just write.
As always, feel free to share your work…we’re all good eggs and will be cheering you on!
