I’m almost there, friend. The end of a long and very winding and (often) arduous road to publication is in sight.
(It might be a mirage.)
At this point, it doesn’t pay to get too cocky.
As I type this (10:30am on April 17th), I’ve done an hour of formatting, applied for and received my ISBNs from Library and Archives Canada, turned one of them into a barcode, tweaked my blurb and sent it to my writing group for feedback and sent the latest in a long and slightly frustrating series of emails to my cover designer.
All while trying to quietly ignore the siren call of Baldric and his litany of “you’re rubbish, this book is rubbish, what were you thinking?, wouldn’t you rather not?”
I’m learning that I’m at my most vulnerable in these end stages where the reality of publishing is slowly dawning.
Loins are being girded, the course is being stayed etc. etc.
So yes, finishing the book is just the beginning.
At some point, when I have a few more brain cells at my disposal, I’ll write about this in more detail. It’s been suggested to me that I might have knowledge that others would like me to share….and I’m very happy to do so. Do you perhaps have a particular question you’d like answered?
Just not yet.
I’m locked in.
Send biscuits.
~m.
Heartfelt if overused, lots of “You got this!” and “I believe in you!” coming your way!!!
But also? As back up? Fuck yah!! Keep at it! You’re nearly there! I’m over here with biscuits and tea waiting for you at the finish line. 💙
Woo hoo! for all this accomplishment 🎉
Also, I am wondering what Frances from Sea Glass Trilogy might say to Baldric LOL. Quite familiar is she too of that type rascal voice. Go on then and eat biscuits ~ I am sending am imaginary batch right now 😎♥️
