Happy Sunday, scribblers!
Today’s prompt involves a trio of possibilities….seemingly unrelated items or phrases to try to wrangle into a sense of relatedness…or not. We’re all about flexibility and writerly license here in the scribble zone! That said, I invite you to challenge yourself, to stretch a teensy bit beyond what you think you can manage.
Just a teensy bit.
Use them directly as part of your piece, or just as a jumping off point.
Even if you don’t identify as a writer, I invite you to have a noodle in a notebook or on a scrap of paper…just to see what might happen.
If you absolutely have no interest - fair enough - you can toggle your preference in the manage subscriptions portion of your settings.
Write by hand, if you’re able.
Give yourself a time limit.
No edits.
No second thoughts.
Let your pen take a walk across the page.
Ready?
Let’s begin.
a broken shoelace
poppy seeds
a sealed envelope
*cackles with delight*
Remember, your response can literally just be a scribble….jot down a few notes…doodle in a margin…let your imagination drift.
Hints: What springs to mind when you read each option? (what is the image in your mind’s eye?) What, if any, connections can you make - quickly, without thinking too hard? What is the general feeling of each object? What person comes to mind when you envision each thing? (what do they look like, sound like, smell like?) What about location?
Right, off you go….have fun!

Thank you thank you thank you. Love that you are doing these prompts. So surprised by what comes out of my pen - and me. 💙
