Halloooo Scribblers!
Welcome to another Sunday and another Scribble of the summer season of Sunday Scribble…say that five times fast. 🤓
Today we have an image prompt…inspired by the weather this morning. I awoke to thunder and bucketing rain, which is most welcome, given the drought-ish conditions of the summer, thus far.
First, though, for those who are new to the ‘Scribble, let’s review the invitation:
Even if you don’t normally identify as a writer, I invite you to have a noodle in a notebook or on a scrap of paper…just to see what might happen.
Write by hand, if you’re able.
Give yourself a time limit.
No edits.
No second thoughts.
Let your pen take a walk across the page.
Ready?
Let’s begin.
Take a moment to sit with the image. Perhaps close your eyes and cast your thoughts to a time where you saw/experienced the onset of a summer storm; think about how the air smelled, the sounds, the temperature…immerse yourself in that for a moment or two.
Now, write about it.
This could be a purely descriptive passage, a way to exercise those muscles — or you could use it as a springboard to a short story or poem, or incorporate it into something you already have on the go.
Have fun.
Keep going.
As always, feel free to report back, either in the comments or via message. I’d love to know how you get on.
Happy scribbling!
