That was the first of theirs that I'd read and it was just o good. I'm not usually a sci-fi reader but I could be a convert now! xo ps. And I know what you mean :)
Those are all winners in my book as well! I read Delderfield (To Serve them all their Days) for the first time a couple of years ago and loved it...hmmm..could be time for a re-read of that one! xo
Please tell me you read the Swann trilogy by Delderfield!! Masterpiece!
And if you've never tried it, The Advenrures of Richard Hannay by John Buchan. There are 4 books total, the first one of which (the Thirty Nine Steps), was made into an awful movie by Hitchcock. Takes place in Britain at the end of the Boer War, and ends with the start of World War I. Cannot recommend them too highly. Tend to reread them every few years.
Oh goodness!! No, I haven't read that trilogy...but will now be on the lookout for it...and the John Buchan ones as well! thank you for the recommendations! xo
I hadn't heard of all the books on your list, as I tend to stay in the classic genre, but the idea of a story about a kinder world is so appealing that I might step out my zone. xx
Apart from Farenheit 451 (which I think is due for a re-read) these are all new to me, even most all of the titles! (I'm a read in print form person too.) Thanks for the list -- always gives me good things to look up!
I loved that book! It was the first time I'd read it...thought it was particularly timely (and unnervingly prophetic!). It's definitely one I'll come back to. xo
Wow that's a lot!! Thank you for all the new book recommendations (not that I need to add any more to my TBR pile... or mountain, lol, but I'm always eager to include new friends ;) I'm actually about to start Ninth House so I'm glad it made your top 15. Thanks for sharing, I always like to see what others are reading!
I love those books which give glimpses of simpler times too, which is why I so often reach for Miss Read. I love so many of your choices. Miss Mole was a favourite for me last year
Ooh thank you! I loved Becky Chambers space opera trilogy (quadogy?!) and didn’t even have this series on my radar! So many books - so little time!

I adore Miss Read and Gladys Taber and R.F.Delderfield!!
