an invitation to the Silent Scribble - a co-working session for the shy, the introverted, the neurodivergent and other folk who'd rather not have to talk on Zoom
I think this is brilliant! A perfect solution for those who aren’t super social but want to be connected. 💙 I myself will not be there since I’m part of a weekly thing already through October (intuitive painting), but I’m cheering you on for this lovely container of creativity and connection. Yay you! ✨👏🏼✨
I could maybe join on the Wednesday? (I think that’s 10pm, although as we start moving in and out of Daylight Savings, I think that’s going to creep up to a more doable hour.) But not until October, by which point it will be earlier in the evening for me.
Hello 🙂 I am dipping a toe back into online spaces after a long pause, probably too long to call it a pause but I am sticking with that.
What a lovely idea, silent writing spaces like an online library space, a place I often choose to go and work if I find myself out and about with my daughter and need to get some work done. I do hope it works for you.
I was smiling at your writing about September being a time for socks and cardigans and being able to be out in the garden in the afternoon, we have had no summer here it has not got going really with the exception of the odd day maybe days we haven’t really shed the socks and cardigans. In fact some days were so cold that we lit the wood burning stove in the evenings. I remember your dislike of the heat, I do hope that September is cooler an as you need it to be to fill up your cup xx
Lovely to see you!! I hope it was a refreshing pause for you. I actually started to ruminate on this idea after a trip to the library where it was particularly noisy one day and commented to a friend about remembering when libraries were quiet places. Sorry to hear your summer has been a non-summer....I would've happily traded you for some of our heat. It's a lovely cool and rainy morning...pretty much perfection :) xo
Hello! Gosh I am craving creative community too right now without a clue about what do about it. Have had 3 of cups in play for the past 3-4 spreads, each time it shows its face I’m like 🙄 heard! I know! But easier said than done… do like the idea of a silent working sesh, as I also find Zooming etiquette to be quite draining.
I love your notes on September and particularly the sleep, I have been finally sleeping long and deep, and goodness what a difference that makes. The dark mornings too. It all brings out another deeper, witchy part of me that I seem to forget about December through August.
Intend to spend the better part of the avo in my very neglected garden today, finally understanding what my Grandma meant when she always called her garden “my favorite place in the world.” ✨🍁🌞🌱 xj
Good sleep is possibly the most life-changing thing there is....or that's what it feels like to me! I've been known to (mentally) high-five myself when I realize I've slept all the way through the night 😆. And yes, sociable Zooming can really sap the life force. :) xo ps. my garden is definitely one of my most favourite places in the world. Your Grandma was very wise. xo
I love this idea, and I will try to make some of them. Fall is my favorite, I love everything about the season. And it's my best writing season usually, so this is exciting if I can work it with children's schedules. Thank you for putting yourself out there and organizing it.
Isn't fall just the best writerly time of year?!? It would be great if you can join in....feel free to suggest other days/times...I'd like to make this as accessible to as many different people as possible. xo
Melanie, this offering comes at a very good juncture for me. I’m starting a new writing project and I’ve been wanting some creative community around it to keep me going. Persistence and consistence are the hardest things for me...I always think I’m the only one who has that difficulty, but probably not. 😂
And the idea of a Silent Scribble (or just about anything silent for that matter!) is right up my alley.
Haha! You're definitely not the only one who struggles with persistence and consistence (*raises hand*) - How exciting to be starting a new project...I'm so thrilled you'll be joining in. I'm looking forward to seeing you there! xo ps. and thank you SO much for upgrading your subscription xo

Thanks, Indi!! I figure I'm not the only one who'd rather not be sociable several times in one week :) xo

Awesome!! It's 10pm for you now...but definitely will be more civilized once the time change happens :) xo
And I might be able to make the first Wednesday one after all. Waiting to hear if I’ll have a house guest that night or not!

I'd like to give this a try, Melanie! Have been working on a couple writing projects and my brain could use the energy and structure!
Ooooh!! That would be the very best thing in the whole world to see you there!! I hope you can make it. xoxoxo ps. we'll keep our cameras on ;)
