Halloooo!! And welcome to the start of the autumn Scribble sessions! I hope you have a nice blank page and a freshly-sharpened pencil (or pen…not sharpened, just a pen) at the ready. Here, in the northern hemisphere, the autumnal weather is slowly edging out the heat and humidity of summer and I’m feeling all of the writerly impulses again. Nothing says ‘let’s write’ than a dark morning and a seeping fog.
Just a reminder, the Silent Scribble starts tomorrow (Monday September 16th). I’ll be in a Zoom room at 1pm EST, working on my manuscript. I’d love to have your company. More information, as well as the Zoom links, can be found HERE. Maybe you want to bring today’s prompt with you? 😉
Right, let’s get to work, shall we?
First, though, just to refresh our memories and for the new people joining in (*waves*), here is the invitation:
Even if you don’t normally identify as a writer, I invite you to have a noodle in a notebook or on a scrap of paper…just to see what might happen.
Write by hand, if you’re able.
Give yourself a time limit.
No edits.
No second thoughts.
Let your pen take a walk across the page.
Ready?
Let’s begin.
I thought I’d start us off with a fairly straightforward one…with a bit of a cheeky twist.
Write about a place where pumpkin-spice flavoured beverages have been outlawed.
Have some fun with this one. Feel free to share in the comments or send me a message if you’re feeling bashful.
Happy writing!

If writing prompts aren’t your thing (wot?!), that’s absolutely fine. We can still be friends. You can toggle your preference in the manage subscriptions portion of your settings so you won’t receive these particular emails.
I have yet to find a pumpkin spice flavored beverage in Australia. The nearest Starbucks is 3 hours away and I’ve yet to make it there in October/November or March/April which is our autumn…
I love this idea but sadly I won’t be able to join you for this one as I will be heading to work 😔 love the prompt!
