I am in the early stages of book 2 and for some reason this is the year of coworking for me. (I’m in a wee Aussie Substack Zoom writing group and am about to join an in person art group where we just do our own thing.) Now I am on the other side of the world AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time), so my guess is the overlap is your evening/my morning ... but if it’s too early for me, my writing will not be all that, I need some time to wake up. And if you ever do the prompts thing, I will share the heck out of it because that is how I returned to creative writing. It is all thanks to you!

I've always found co-working groups to be so helpful....so it's mostly selfish reasons that I want to start one. There's a few available out there but they tend to be large and I'm not a fan of big crowds :D...and I find livestreams to be too distracting so, we'll see.

I'll keep your AEDT in mind, though -- if I do an evening session, it might work out. Thanks so much, re: the prompt thing...I'm still girding my loins over the idea of that one but your encouragement means a lot. xo

I do love a poll. And I also love your generous idea of meeting online and quietly writing with others. There's something thrilling, yet also soothing about the silent camaraderie of working alongside other creatives. A life of writing, even for those of us who are hermit-y, can feel a bit isolating and leave one feeling a little...unhinged existentially (raises hand - relate so well to your burnout and Other Tales). As you know, I'm in AEST/AEDT, so I think we naturally coincide in my morning, or my late evening. To keep things simple I'm happy to work around what the majority require; and if your cunning plan unfolds, I'll just join in when and if I can.

Also - thanks for mentioning Rebecca Syme's work. I signed up to her newsletter. Because I feel exactly the same way about marketing as you. xx

It would be my very best favourite thing to think we could be quietly working together. The Aussies are leading the pack....which would be extra magnificent, should it all come together. And yes to the existentially unhinged feeling....ever walking the tightrope :D. Becca is the absolute BEST...she's definitely a champion of our people :). xo

Hi Mel, I am interested, but as I am hard of hearing I don't do Zoom, etc., nor am I deep into conventional marketing, in particular not the American style. Too formulaic, not creative enough.... I work one to one via email, and I promote without charge, as my promos themselves are designed to benefit both parties. I have worked as a creative all over Europe, and for the FSB in the UK., supporting festivals, business conferences, and running upto 100 art fairs a year. Have a look at my Boathouse post of last Thursday, and you will see how I use my own back history to introduce Suzanne's brilliant essay concept. Maybe you can see some similar mileage in it for your group. Maybe you would like to submit an essay, Maybe you would like to restack this ...... Peace, Maurice

Thanks for chiming in, Maurice, I appreciate it. I would add that there's not likely to be much in the way of conversation during the co-working sessions...my hope is that it's a time for focused work. The feedback so far suggests I may just open up a workspace and people can join in or not....the fact that someone *might* stop by, will be enough to keep me there for an hour :).

Thanks for introducing me to the essay contest...I doubt I could muster anything in time for the deadline, but the concept itself is fascinating. Imagine a collection of these essays being seriously considered by policy-makers....dare to dream, I guess. Alas, I don't have much faith in aforementioned policy-makers. I have far more faith in regular folk...a peasants revolt, even. ;)

Oh my goodness marketing for introverts?! I cannot wait to learn more! And I'd take your poll as an artist, rather than a writer, but I have an allergy to schedules apparently. I definitely wouldn't want my waffling over picking an ideal time (there won't be one, the way my mind works) to impact your planning in any way shape or form. Though connecting with other like-minded creatives on a regular basis is something I'm also craving. Oh the dilemma of being me. Lol. But if you schedule it and it works out, perhaps I will "encourage" myself to join along. Also, like you, I can talk myself out of anything (a decision, a perspective, a value even) by considering ALL the angles and hence having no ground to stand on at the end. Can I attribute it to being a highly evolved and infinite galactic being? Where everything IS possible? Ha ha ha... oh my gosh, I crack myself up. :-)

I’m literally cracking up alongside you as the whole idea seems to be a bit of a lead balloon and I find myself suddenly being very schedule-averse (probably as a defence mechanism 🤔)So much for forcing the accountability 😂. But yeah, feel you on the community vs. contrarian angle 🤣
